Nutrition Resources for Clinicians

Evidence-Based Nutrition is designed to be a tool for clinicians to prescribe to their patients.

Research shows that 78% of patients make dietary changes based on their doctor's recommendations. Unfortunately, 74% of doctors say they give nutrition advice less than once a month because of their lack of time or nutrition knowledge. That's where we come in.

Evidence-Based Nutrition makes it easy for clinicians to offer meaningful, science-backed nutrition education and support—without adding extra strain to their schedules.

Help patients improve nutrition

  • Online courses for patients that teach the why, what, and how to of the Mediterranean diet, the leading evidence-based dietary pattern

  • 5-week Nutrition Challenge beginning and ending with biometric testing such as a lipid panel and fasting blood glucose / HbA1c, as directed by their physician

  • Online community for peer support and accountability

  • Practical tips for shopping, cooking, and eating out

  • Printable handouts and guides, including

    • Nutrition & Cholesterol

    • Mediterranean Diet Guide

    • Nutrition for Blood Sugar Control

    • Lowering Blood Pressure with Lifestyle

We are actively working to make the Evidence-Based Nutrition program eligible for Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and, ultimately, insurance reimbursement, to reduce barriers and expand access for patients.

Doctor improves her nutrition and shares what she learned with patients

Dr. Cho was one of the first people to do the Thrive-in-5, which is the Nutrition Class and Nutrition Challenge by Evidence-Based Nutrition. She did the class for her own health, but this is already helping her patients.

“I thought I knew a lot about nutrition, so to learn that I was pre-diabetic, it kind of shocked me. I thought I was doing everything right. The class changed the way I think about food and it impacted the way I eat. Now I get a lot more specific with my patients on nutrition advice.”
Dr. Cho is a nephrologist at her local VA hospital.

Nutrition tools for doctors to give to patients

We want to make sure that the tools we develop are the tools you need. We are constantly collaborating with clinicians and seeking their feedback on how we can improve our tools for helping patients make lifestyle changes.
If you are a clinician and would like to be involved in giving us feedback on how we can create tools that would help your patients, please fill out the form below.
